SIPE (Soldier Integrated Protective Ensemble)

The SIPE program was the US Army's premier project in its movement to define the individual "soldier as a system" concept.

The goal was to approach a single soldier as if it was a platform much like it would a new plane or a tank.  Thus, taking the same rigorous engineering design approach in developing and integrating new systems and components for use on the platform.

As the lead integration engineer, we were the primary human system integration lead for all of the prototype equipment.

With 2 other hardware development companies, and a host of other Army agencies all wanting access to prime real estate on the soldier uniform, it was our job to put all the pieces together and make sure that they didn't impeded the soldier any more than the current uniform and equipment.
